Live for the Lord like your life depends on it....because it does! Ever thought of it that way before? It just dawned on me recently. Lately, I have been living my life on hold. Waiting for all of the people and the things in my life to be perfect before I do anything. Yeah, you could say I'll be on hold for a while if I keep living like that! I don't know if I've ever really lived in the moment before. I know that sounds strange, but I can't say for certain I have.
I am a busy person, just like everyone else, I guess. I have a husband and we have three young boys that I stay home with and home school. I am also involved heavily in the local and national political scene. I am concerned for my children's future as well as my own. I don't know what to say beyond that. I also love to work out at the gym and try to eat healthy as much as I can. Oh, yeah, then there is the coffee addiction I seem to have. I love coffee! Ask any of my old Facebook buddies and they'll tell you, three o'clock was my regular 'coffee-thirty'. I guess you could say my life and my sanity depends on it!
I do have a personal relationship with Jesus. I came to know Christ in the summer of 1997. My husband is actually the person who led me to Christ, which is amazing to me. I love to tell the story of how God used my husband to lead me to the Lord. My husband and I were engaged ten short days after the very first time we talked and we have been married for nearly fifteen years. I am so fortunate to have found such a wonderful person to share my life with. Just like any marriage, we have our ups and downs, our arguments and our make-ups, but I wouldn't trade it or him. My life depends on him!
I felt really especially close to God when I first became a Christian and over the years I have fallen away from Him, just like anyone can, I guess. I think that recently though, may mark the most dramatic and lengthy dry spell I've had in my faith ever. I can't say for sure what started it, but I think I've finally come out on the other side, and I'm so grateful. I can't say I've never had this kind of 'feeling' before, but I feel that it's different this time and that I really want to try harder to put my faith into action. My life depends on it!
I think one of the things that really sort of 'woke me up' was a conversation I had with my eight year old son. My mom is seventy-one years old and she and my son have a very close relationship. She had some chest pains last week and she wanted to go to the hospital. Nothing dangerous or 'heart-attack like', but she wanted to go and check it out. After we had left the hospital and gotten ready for bed that night, he came to me and asked if she was going to be alright. I told him, yes, she's fine, sweetie. Why? Are you worried about her? He said yes, and tears started to flow. I said are you concerned about her because it's her heart? He nodded yes, still crying. I assured him through hugs and love that everything was going to be fine; that she was going to be fine. My life came full circle at that very moment. There is something about being there for your kids in that way;comforting them about the health and wellness of a loved one and realizing at the same time that people don't live forever. I should know because I lost my dad to a massive heart attack very suddenly one January afternoon in 1995.
Since that conversation, I feel like I have been able to enjoy my life, my kids and my family more. I guess you could say it helped put things in perspective for me. I have certainly become more engaged in my children's lives than I was before, if that's possible. I take time to listen and hear their conversations and their ideas. Oh, the ideas that come into their precious little heads! I wouldn't miss those ideas for the world. Not to mention the tickle times, the hugs and kisses, the boo boos, the tears, the bedtime prayers and bedtime story times. Those things don't last forever and I don't want to find myself looking back and realizing I missed out on those things. Time and life are too precious.
So, please, take it from me. Live your life for God because your life does depend on it! You may not get another tomorrow! Thanks be to God!

Obama Gag Reel-Take Two
Ah, yes. Back for part two? You just couldn't stay away, could ya? Well, that's alright. Glad to share even more of Obama's gaffes to remind us how wonderful it will be when he's finally gone! Yes, you heard that right, G-O-N-E! Don't let the door hit ya, well, you know the rest.
So, in my last blog, titled Obama Gag Reel-Take One, I refreshed your memory of some rather embarrassing moments of Obama's illustrious one term as the POTUS. Here are a few more to serve as reminders as to why we need to kick his ass to the curb in November.
Remember at the dawn of the tea party movement there was a rash of signs depicting Obama with a Hitler mustache insinuating that Obama was in fact, very much like Hitler? Well, folks, stop the comparison now! Why, you may ask? Well, simply because Hitler was able to get the Olympics to come to Berlin! Think it's funny that with all of the money that the Chicago political machine threw at the IOC to get the Olympics there. They even pulled the POTUS out of their 'hat' along with the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Valerie Jarrett AND even the FLOTUS, and it still wasn't enough. In my mind, folks, that's a gaffe!
Oh, yeah. I almost forgot! He was in campaign mode for....for....FOREVER! He doesn't know how NOT to campaign! Yeah, I hear those of you who think that it's okay for the POTUS to pat himself on the back occasionally, but Barry's arm has got to be tired from all of that self-congratulating he has done.
I talked about the flubbed up toast to the Queen of England. Not sure which is worse, the toast or the gift he gave her! An I-pod loaded with with none other than his speeches and a home movie of her trip to the United States from back in 2007. Way to stay classy, Barry!
I just thought of another gaffe. I know, it's pretty surprising since this is titled Obama Gag Reel-Take Two! Ha! Um, let's see. Oooh, I know, appointing tax cheat Timmy Geithner to be Secretary of the Treasury. Or how about treating the oval office like it's a smoke filled room in Chicago to cut seedy deals with politicians. Oh, wait, I forgot! It IS! There he stands, in the middle of the office, clicking his heels together three times saying, "there's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home."
So far, this is just a list of the small offenses he's committed against the American people. I didn't even touch on Obamacare, TARP, and the banning of off shore drilling. I guess you could say the handling of the Deep Water Horizon explosion was a major gaffe filled with little gaffes all at the expense of the tax payers. He refused help from our allies so as not to piss off the unions! The Dutch offered high tech skimmer boats to help clean up the oil and Barack says, "No." The Dutch also offered to help protect the marine life and estuaries and Barack says, "No." Wow, and I thought the Republicans were the party of 'no'. Not to mention how he claimed that his daughter Malia asked him, "Daddy, did you plug the hole yet?" Yeah, right, she said that.
Then there is the snub Obama gives Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal. Instead of getting off his ass and flying down to Louisiana immediately after the spill to see what resources to offer, he waited weeks after the incident occurred and then wagged his finger in Governor Jindal's face about how the situation was making him 'look bad'. Well, boo-frikin'-hoo, Barry. *side note, Barry gives the same treatment to Louisiana just yesterday as he interviews with Reddit instead of declaring the state a natural disaster in order to receive federal funds. Priorities, folks!
Alright, I may as well cut to the chase here. The non-gaffe that just keeps on giving....."You didn't build that. If you have a successful business you didn't build that on your own. You had help with that." Now, I'm not sure what's worse, the fact that he said that, or the fact that he took this cue from none other than Elizabeth Warren. Oh, you know who I'm talking about! Democratic Massachusetts Senate candidate, Elizabeth-me-smokum-peace-pipe-Warren? The lady who claimed to be 1/32nd Cherokee Indian or something absurd like that. Two peas in a pod, they are. Well, I happen to be married to a small business owner, and let me assure you, he DID build it!
That's all from the Political Chicken for now! Tune in next time to hear me say, "Congratulations to President Mitt Romney and Vice President Paul Ryan!" *Swoon* A girl can dream, can't she?

Obama Gag Reel-Take One
You know how around the Christmas holidays the radio stations and music video shows do all sorts of countdowns of the top 100 songs of the year? I thought since Obama is going to be kicked out of the White House in January it would be appropriate to go ahead and put together a list of his 'gaffes' in one nice, neat little blog. I might actually have to do a two or three part blog on this one simply because he's had so damn many! I'm sorry, but President Obama, you made this too easy for me. You and your veep and the lapdog media have made a mockery of the United States Presidency and of America and it's citizens. So please, readers, relax with some popcorn and get ready for the gag reel.
Not long after being sworn into office, (right around Valentine's Day of 2009, to be exact), Obama decided it would be a good idea to simply send back the bust of Sir Winston Churchill to England. Wow. Nothing says love like snubbing one of our allies, right? In it's place he set a bust of his 'homie from Illinois', President Abraham Lincoln. More on his 'homie' in my next blog.
Next on the list is one I won't soon forget. Beer summit. Yep, remember summer of '09? One white cop by the name of Sgt. Crowley arrested black scholar and professor Louis Gates Jr. in front of Gates' home on suspicion of a break in. Turned out it was in fact Louis' own home and the POTUS accused the police of acting stupidly. So, can't we all just get along over a few beers? To quote one of our founding fathers, which Obama would never do, Benjamin Franklin, "Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."
Oh, and one for the books is all the bowing down he did to all of the leaders of foreign countries, earning him the name O-bow-ma. Cartoons depicted Obama bowing down to the Burger King. Yikes. Then he became Mr. Apologetic as he addressed said foreign leaders and dignitaries. #epicfail To make matters worse, he also began announcing on some of those same trips that America was no longer a Christian nation. Um, excuse me? Go back to your Kenyan hut, you moron!
Sometimes when you were a kid and your parents did things that you were told not to do, it kind of made you mad, didn't it? Well, unfortunately over the past four years, Michelle and Barack have tried to act like the parents of the USA. Telling us what to eat and drink and how to raise our children. Also, telling all of us that at some point we've earned enough money. Ya don't say? Newsflash: Obama is a millionaire. YEP. He's an evil rich person; however, he didn't build any businesses on his own, either. No, he hasn't ever held a nine to five job in his life. Progressive much?
Last but definitely not least, there was the one with Queen Elizabeth. Yeah, remember when he 'royally' screwed up the toast? Leave it to our dear leader to keep yammering away while the song 'God Save the Queen' played. Here is the painful you tube video as a reminder.
Now I know that A LOT of things have happened since Obama was elected and that we are all on information overload, but I just thought that in the midst of it all we could take a trip down memory lane together. I realize that this is not really 'owning the narrative' and it's definitely not 'pwning the narrative', but this is just my coping mechanism for dealing with so much STUPID the last three and a half years. Forgive me.
I also know that Mitt Romney was not our first choice as a Republican candidate, but this election is not really about electing Mitt. It's about voting Obama OUT. Stay tuned for part two...

Choose Cruz for U.S. Senate
Okay, you probably don't need my input on this, but I'm going to go ahead and give it to you anyway. If you live in Texas and you haven't lived under a rock for the past year, you know the top race in the upcoming Republican runoff is the U.S. Senate race. The two candidates for the choosing are Ted Cruz and David Dewhurst. Listen up and I'll let you in on how to vote on July 31.
TED CRUZ. It's that simple. If you want a real conservative to go to Washington to represent Texas the way it should be represented, vote for Ted Cruz. I have followed this race and listened to both candidates and feel that Cruz is the clear choice. There is such a stark difference between the two candidates that it is amazing to me. On one hand, you have the establishment Republican candidate in David Dewhurst. He has been the lieutenant governor for Texas for a while now. Listen to his ads about himself and what do you really find out about him? His dad was a bomber pilot. Yep, that's it. Not very telling when you are trying to decide who to vote for. Although he has been more than happy to trash his opponent and cut his attack ads to fit his anti-Cruz narrative. Would you expect anything less from a man who is backed by lobbyist and special interest groups? Seems to me with the dawn of the tea party movement and 'grassroots' campaigns being all the rage, you would want to go that route, but not Dewhurst. Read my lips: big government style politicians are OUT!
Moving on to Ted Cruz. He is the exact opposite of Dewhurst. He represents all that the tea party movement has been crying out for from candidates and representatives. He has been able to reach out to the youth and to Libertarians; something that the Republican party is refusing to do but should. That speaks volumes about him as a candidate and a person. If you were to visit his campaign headquarters in Houston, you would see the cross section of society there united to help Ted get elected. It's amazing. The only people I see Dewhurst reaching out to are donors for more money.
From Ted's website you will see his record of fighting for our free market society, because, let's face it, socialism doesn't work! He has also defended U.S. sovereignty. I know that he feels that we are not the world's police; that we shouldn't be involved in fighting other people's wars in all different countries and that we should pull out of the United Nations. He is a believer in preserving religious freedom and defending life, to name a few. He also believes in upholding the constitution as it's written by the founders. He refers to it as the touchstone that we should return to as a country. Hear, hear!
Oh, and by the way, Texas Governor Rick Perry has manned up and said, adios, mofo, to the implementation of the ACA and it's overreach into Texan's wallets and lives. You just have to wonder if Dewhurst were to get elected, would he have the backbone to stand up for what's best for Texas? I KNOW Ted Cruz will. So, please, on July 31st, cast a vote for the clear choice for U.S. Senate....Ted Cruz.

I Got Nowhere Else To Go!
Right. You may or may not recognize the title from a very popular movie, "An Officer and a Gentleman". You know, the scene where Louis Gossett Jr. as 'Sgt. Foley' is playing the drill instructor and he is trying to convince Richard Gere, or 'Mayo' to quit the naval flight academy? It's at the tail end of this scene where Mayo blurts out the real reason for his intention to stay with the program. "I got nowhere else to go!" I have always loved that movie but it never held any special meaning to me until I got involved in politics. All of a sudden that quote had a dual meaning which was shown to me by my two good friends Felicia Cravens and James Yaklin. They have shared this as an inside joke for a while, and it fits when you compare it to ones own political involvement.
Folks on the outside looking in may suggest that you 'leave' the arena of politics when you express your frustration over said representative voting a certain way. Or maybe you are dealing with the local party affiliate when they aren't transparent enough for you with their finances and that's making you furious. Heh. Quit, your friends say. Why are you doing this anyway? Politics is brutal, they'll tell you. Even after they have shared their counsel which seems pretty cut and dry to them, you shrug it off and move on. You think, they just don't understand! Or, if only the people around me would just listen to me bitch some more, it will change things, just wait! Only then, after leaving a meeting or a gathering of patriots where you may have had this conversation, it hits you. You got nowhere else to go!
Now, let's take this quote a step further. Think about our country. The good ole US of A. She's been there for us, right? Let's be honest, she's been there for the world. For 236 years, to be exact as of yesterday. We have been a light in the darkness; a beacon on a hill...all for freedom. Okay, so we celebrated freedom yesterday, what's your point, Political Chicken? I'm saying that I'm concerned about our freedoms, guys. I'm concerned that if we lose all of our freedoms, 'we' got nowhere else to go.

Happy 4th of July, ya'll!
Ah, hello there! You're back for more from the mind of the Political Chicken? You must be sick! Ha! I have been thinking and praying about the SCOTUS decision on the ACA or better known as Obamacare. Such a misnomer since Obama doesn't care! Ugh! But I digress.
Like some of you, I was on Twitter and in front of the television listening and waiting with baited breath to hear the verdict on this monstrosity of a bill. I had listened to several different talk radio shows and read many different blogs and opinion pieces and had my own opinion about how the SCOTUS ruling was going to come down. Almost NONE of the opinions I had heard prior said that the whole entire bill would be ruled as constitutional. No wait, scratch that. NONE of the opinions said that Chief Justice Roberts and the four other justices who decided with him would act as legislators from the bench! When the verdict was read, I thought like many of you, hurray, the individual mandate has been struck down! Then not two seconds later, that feeling of elation was followed by a feeling of betrayal and panic and then depression. How could they? I just kept thinking that and still occasionally that thought will enter my mind. Or better yet, how could he? By my estimation, Chief Justice Roberts could have killed what is known as the great American experiment last Thursday. Just. like. that.
Now, whether or not Roberts was bullied into changing his mind at the last moment or however he came to his decision doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. It is what it is. Like many of you, I am wondering what do we do now? What's next for America? What's next for my family and yours? I personally have a young family, three children under the age of nine. What's in store for them? Will they know the freedoms that I knew as a child or will they be entrenched in a war to get their freedom back? I pray it's not the latter.
That's where the tea party and an involved citizenry come into the picture. I have been involved for the past three years or so, which isn't very long, but it sure feels like it! Now is when we need an army of conservative warriors. No, not the kind with bullets and guns, but the kind armed with information and the willingness to get off the couch and make some phone calls for your favorite candidate and knock on doors to get others involved and engaged. (Okay, I'll let you sit on the couch and make phone calls.)
I would like to share a link with you to show how important it is to talk to your neighbors about what's happening to the world as we know it. Click here to read about how uninformed we really are.
I personally was like those people three years ago, before Obama got elected. Now, sadly, politics is my life, my world and where I have made most of my friends, which is the good part, of course. I can't imagine anyone not caring about what the Supreme Court had to say about the health care bill. I love my country, I love my family and I love my freedom. I will not sit idly by while some supreme court justice with an agenda rips all of those things away from me.
On a more personal note, for those of us looking for the proverbial 'silver lining' on this decision, here it is. Perspective. I hope this puts into perspective all of the things that are truly important in life. In order of importance for me are my personal relationship with God, which has been neglected I must confess, my husband and my children and my immediate family. Freedoms definitely rank as well. So this fourth of July, enjoy a slice of watermelon, a hot dog and some fireworks. Hug your kids and kiss your spouse and thank God for all that you have. Happy Fourth, ya'll from the Political Chicken!

Everything is Meaningless...
Oooh, here's more from inside the mind of the Political Chicken! Surgeon General warns: Enter at your own risk...oh, whatever! In my blog post titled 'Happy Father's Day', I quoted a scripture verse and I said it could "blow the proggies and greenies out of the water'. Well, as long as you believe that God created the earth, that he spoke it into being and are a believer in Christ and trust His word. I would like to revisit that scripture and explain what I was talking about. This is just a scratch on the surface opinion on the whole global warming-hole in the ozone-we must recycle-mantra. Take it or leave it.
Genesis 1:27-28 says:
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." .."Fill the earth and subdue it." The word 'subdue' really strikes a chord with me. Defined by Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary, the word subdue means to conquer and bring into subjection and/or to bring into cultivation, as land. I think those two definitions go hand in hand. This scripture tells us that God gave us the power to be in control of the land; of the earth. He gave us the soil to plant food and trees so we could nourish our bodies with the food and the oxygen produced by the plants and the trees. All of these things are seen as good by God. The next part of the scripture is to Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground. Wow. Amazing. God also told us to rule over the fish and the birds and creatures that move on the ground, not worship them. I'm guessing that's not a lesson taught in the public school system anymore. We are now taught to worship the earth and the animal inhabitants. We live in a world where an abandoned or abused dog or cat has more worth than the life of an unborn human baby. How upside down is that? We are taught to recycle because the landfills are getting full with our trash. We are also challenged on using more than one square of toilet paper....Sheryl Crow. See the difference in the world's message and God's message?
And according to Al 'Shakra' Gore, you know, the guy who invented the internet? Uncle Al says the polar ice caps are melting, global warming is real, yada, yada. To quote a lyric from the BareNaked Ladies, "the water's getting warm, so you might as well swim". Ha! Take that, Al!
The nail in the coffin to all of this green agenda being shoved down our throats is this:
The earth is the Lord's and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters-Psalm 24:1-2. People, the earth is the Lord's! It's not ours, it's HIS. Yes, we are to be good stewards of it, but there is a balance to be had within the stewardship. The world is His, too. Why? He founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters. The Lord has destroyed the earth before; remember Noah and his ark? At the point that God decided to destroy the earth with the flood waters, there was nothing the people could do to stop Him. Just as today, no amount of conserving or recycling or burning of styrofoam or use of aerosol cans is going to either preserve the length of life for our planet, nor destroy it sooner than it was supposed to be. God knows when it will happen. It's all in His timing, not ours.
Finally, remember friends, a quote from our favorite book Ecclesiastes, "..Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless." What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun? Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever. The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises. The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course. All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again. All things are wearisome, more than one can say. They eye has never enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing. What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. And all of God's children say...AMEN!
